Finding & Adding a Product

How to put a product on the till — a shelf item you scan, or a menu item you sell by tapping a button or by weighing on the scale. The golden rule first: always search for the product before you add it, so you never create a duplicate. In each picture below, the glowing ring and the moving pointer show the exact button to touch.

The one rule that matters

Search first — add only if it isn’t there. Two products with the same barcode or name cause wrong prices and confusing reports. Every time, you: open Products → search → if it exists, open it; if it doesn’t, press Create.

1

Leave the sale screen

On the sale screen, press Functions (right-hand side, next to the number pad). A panel of extra buttons opens — press Home Mode at the top-left of it.

If no one is signed in, the till first asks for your clerk code — type it and press Enter, then press Home Mode again.

Press Functions (1), then Home Mode (2) at the top-left of the panel that opens.
2

Open Management

On the home screen, press the blue Management tile.

3

Open Product

Press Product — the first tile on the Management screen.

Search for the product first

You are now on the Products list. Before adding anything, look for the product:

  • Type part of the name in the Name box at the top of the Name column, or
  • Pick a menu in the Department filter to narrow the list, or
  • Scan the item’s barcode — if it exists, its row appears.
Products list filtered by name apple fuji, one matching row
Type “apple fuji” in the Name box, then tap the matching row to open the existing product — so you don’t make a new one.

If it appears → tap its row to open it, change what you need, and go to step 6 (Save).

If nothing appears → it doesn’t exist yet, so press → Create at the bottom-left to add it. Continue to step 5.

5

Fill in the product

Fill the fields that matter for your product. Below is a real weighable product (loose apples) for reference. The tick that changes how the item behaves is ringed:

Product form for APPLE FUJI: Weighable ticked, unit kg, Fruit Menu, price, photo
The tick to check: Weighable — tick for scale items and set the size to kg, so the till reads the scale weight for this item.
  • Barcode — for a packet you scan, type (or scan) the real barcode from the packet. For a loose or menu item sold by a button or by weight, leave it empty.
  • Name — what the button and receipt will say, e.g. Apple Fuji.
  • Department — the menu it belongs to, picked from the dropdown, e.g. Fruit Menu.
  • Price — the selling price (per kg for weighable items). Leave it 0 to be asked at the till each time.
  • Weighable — tick this for anything sold by weight on the scale (loose fruit & veg, meat, pick&mix) and set the size to kg. The till then reads the scale weight for this item. Leave it unticked for a fixed-price item.

Picture & colour (right-hand side): press Choose file to pick an image, or Take Photo to use the camera, or Edit Image to crop/rotate one. The red × removes the picture. Color sets the tile colour on the sale screen. These are optional.

Scanned product or menu product?

A full shopkeeper barcode (the long number on a packet) marks the item as a scanned shelf product. A loose or button item should have no barcode. Don’t invent a barcode to fill the box.

6

Save

Once the product is filled in, press the green Save / New button (bottom-left) to save it. It saves the product and then clears the form so you can type the next one straight away — so a blank form appearing afterwards is normal and does not mean the save failed. Press Back when you have finished adding products.

When you opened an existing product to edit it, a red Delete button also appears — use it only if you really want to remove that product.

The filled-in product — press the green Save / New (bottom-left) to save it; the form then clears for the next one.
It appears on the sale screen by itself

After you save, go back to the sale screen and wait a moment — the new or changed button appears on its own within a few seconds. If you don’t want to wait, press the R (refresh) button in the top-right corner to update it immediately.

To move a button, or change its size or colour on the sale screen, go to Management → Configure Sale Page.
